When the attendants at night
are showing the town to
the preferred animals,
Wilmersdorf, Lankwitz, Frohnau,
and I'm encountering them
at night, on my way home,
I greet them, making my
bow,
wishing them a good evening,
longing eagerly for a better
impression
that mammals should have
of their own kind,
ready for an understanding,
ready
for brotherhood -
if only the attendants weren't
between us, between snout
and brain.
