Unsere Stadt
Diese Stadt, die die unsre ist, ist wirklich seltsam
Sie flüstert des Nachts
wenn wir durch die Straßen gehn
sie winkt, und zeigt ihre Wunden
als seien sie die Geheimnisse ihres Herzens
Ihre Fenster sind alle geschlossen
ihre Gassen still
ihre Wände todmüde
ihre Türen versiegelt.
In den Häusern blieben die Leichname nur
jahrelang -- , zur Miete.

Our City
This city of ours is really strange:
it whispers at night
when we walk on the streets,
it beckons, and shows its wounds
as if they were the secrets of the heart.
Its windows are all shut;
its lanes silent;
its walls dead tired;
its doors sealed.
In houses only the corpses have
stayed on for years on rent.
